因為拆除違建的推土機潮流，迫使許多眷村在歷史當中消弭，有的成為公園；有的雖然保持主體建築，不過原有的先民智慧，因為水泥加工，也成了空殼的回憶，此等作法，非但不智，還扼殺了許多先民的巧智及努力。許多當年來台老兵或是外地城鄉的居民，無法與現代接軌，而地方政府以都市美化之美名，讓辛苦建立三四十年的小型聚落，毀於機械手臂。
